We're having a live music event with various
musicians from different musical genres outdoors at Hell's Kitchen (No. 1, Sec.
5, Civic Blvd., Taipei) on Saturday, May the 2nd, from 2pm - 8pm.
Proceeds from the gig will be going to primary/elementary schools in Nantou County who need some assistance with the usual
problems - tuition fees, lunch box fees, health insurance, books etc. etc...
Hope to see you at the gig, and thanks a million for your help in advance!
Well, we arrived
out to Le-Shan Nursing Home in TaipeiCounty for mentally and
physically disadvantaged kids (plus some young adults) on Sunday, the 18th of
January, with supplies and stuff for the kids and the hard-working people out
there.
We were also invited to join in on birthday celebrations for a number of the
kids' birthdays which have fallen in January. So there was song and dance, a
lot of birthday cake, desserts and sweets and what have you. All had a great
time, and the craic was 90 for the time we were
there.
Special thanks goes out to Ruth, Terri, Chloe, Angela, Peggy, Peter, Ah-Da, Michael and the four fans of Ella - excellent job
people!
Very special thanks goes
out to all the staff at Le-Shan Nursing Home for taking care of, and looking
after all these kids. A job done by very special and
dedicated people.
We will keep you all posted on upcoming events, activities etc. in the coming
weeks. A very happy and healthy Chinese New Year to all!
[Type The Title Here]Events 16-DEC-2008 updated! We'll be paying a visit to the kids' cancer ward at
the Veterans' Hospital in Tien-Mu this Christmas Day
afternoon. They only allow so many people to visit the kids in the hospital for
obvious reasons. We will be having our annual Christmas Dinner at Paco's Pizzeria on Christmas Evening - anyone interested in
a seat at the table, please get in touch with Xiao Lour.
There will be a charity gig at Taipei's National
Cheng-Chi/Zheng-Zhi University on the evening of
Saturday the 27th of December. We've already had one successful event there in
January of this year. Times are from 5:00pm (approx.) - 9:00pm (approx.) If interested in attending, please get in touch.
Hoping to re-visit Le-Shan Nursing Home sometime in January
2009 before the Chinese New Year. We'll have times and dates organised hopefully in early January.
Some updates on what has happened over the
past three months, and what's happening over the next few weeks. Sorry we
haven't posted anything for a spell, we've been busy with this and that. Things
have settled down a wee bit now, so we hope that in 2009 we'll get things off
to a good start.
Our last visit to a school was in early September to Xin-GuangElementary
School in Xin-ZhuCounty.
Not the most successful Karma Relief trip, as there were a certain amount of
kids missing on the weekend we visited (working on their family's land etc.)
and some of the kids at the school were, shall we say 'uncooperative' when we
were trying to organise activities - absolutely no
fault of the kids though - they have a hard enough time as it is with life on
the mountains without having to deal with a bunch of foreigners arriving up
from Taipei. Anyway, supplies were delivered and the weekend spent there was
enjoyable, considering. Many thanks to all concerned and involved.
We will be visiting the kids' cancer ward this Christmas Day afternoon at the
Veterans' Hospital in Tien-Mu. Also there will be a
charity gig (second event there after the first one in January of this year) at
Cheng-Chi/Zheng-Zhi National University on Saturday
the 27th of Dec. Details are posted on the 'Events' page.
Also, we hope to re-visit Le-Shan Nursing Home sometime in January 2009 before
the Chinese New Year. We'll keep you posted on dates, times etc.
Once again, thanks a million to all who have donated,
contributed and helped out during the year - you all know who you are. Wishing
you all a very happy and healthy Christmas!
We're departing for Xin-GuangElementary School in XinZhuCounty on Friday, September the 5th
at 9:00 am, and arriving back in Taipei
on Sunday, September the 7th at 7:00 pm approx.

(at the corner of Guang-Fu and Civic - at the 'new'
